It's that time a year again. Going to Telluride to go skiing. This time I have an added bonus though. My gf Kim is accompanying me. She had never skied before, so it will be interesting. Hopefully she comes back in one piece.

I am currently employed at ecoQuest international. When I was hired I was told that I was a ginni pig, so to speak, as they had never hired some one to telecommunicate from home. After my three months was up, I was informed that things were not working out. They really need some one in office. Since I am not willing to commute 1 1/2 hour to work (3hrs a day), we both decided that I would finish up my current projects and just do contract work with them as needed. I was told they loved my work, and my immediate supervisor will let me use her as a reference, but that there was just not enough Flash work for me to keep m e on full time.

I want to thank ecoQuest for allowing me to work there, even though it was a short lived, I learned a lot about what I want as far as a job is concerned, and the type of environment I want to work in. So thank you ecoQuest

With that said, I am currently seeking full time employment again. If you know any one, let me know

NC State DH Championship

Last weekend was the NC State DH Championship. Our typical group of guys went and placed fairly well. Doug came in first in the pro division, I came in fifth in the Over 30 expert group. The only bummer of the weekend was waiting for 4 hours until the Dual Slalom race was over to accept the awards for the Downhill event. Just about every one had left by then.

Over all though, it was a fun weekend

Carters Lake final

Well, last weekend was the third and final race for Carters Mini DH Series Race in GA. First, second and third place were the same people as in races one and two. Chad, Mitch and myself. So for the series I finished third overall. Not bad for a 38 year old fart competing against 20 somethings

Carters Lake Race rnd 2

Last Sunday was rnd2 of the Carters Lake race series. Leave it to my "friends" to make me the butt of the joke again, literally.
About 50 yards before this berm, a friend jumped out of the bushes while I was in mid air off a jump yelling "Bogga wogga wogga!", with his fingers in his ears. I started to laugh and looked down. Next thing I know, I'm looking up and see Jeff and Doug on the berm. Jeff was pointing at his mini man hood, and Doug was on his back with both legs in the air. I totally lost it. I was laughing so hard I couldn't focus. I wound up in the bushes with the course tape stuck in my visor, doubled over laughing and yelling "I hate you guys!" all at the same time. A local photographer happened to catch the whole thing. Scroll down to the bottom OF THIS PAGE to see the results.

The race promoter gave me a re-run though. I guess he felt bad for me. Wound up placing third from that re-run too.

Carters Lake GA Race

Well, one of my goals this year was to podium. At Caters Lake they are running mini series DH race. There were two classes to register in, Open or Novice. Since the Open class had the likes of Chris Herndon and Ryan Bloch, I decided to run in the novice class. No way this 38 yr old body is going to compete against the likes of those two. It turned out I choose the correct class. The winning time was 1:37, 2nd was 1:40 and I was at 1:44. I could have easily knocked off 5-7 seconds as I blew many corners and lost tons of momentum going into the pedally parts. There are two more races in the series, so who knows, series winner?

US Open

Doug, Mark, Jeff and I left Friday morning at 6am for the downhill race at Massanutten, which is in Harisonburg VA. We pulled into the resort around 12pm. Practiced the race course from 12-5. I didn't really push anything as I was dog ass tired because I had about 3hrs of sleep the night before. But I felt ok on the bike. The course was not really my cup of tea though. Pretty much one big rock garden from top to bottom. But over all, it was a fun track.

We were camping that night at the bottom of the lift. Doug had his easy up, and we were all piled underneath it with me sticking out from one of the sides. In the middle of the night, it started to rain pretty good. It didn't last long, but it was enough to force all of us to sleep side by side. With Marks farts and Jeff's stomach rumblings, and me not being a camper to begin with, I got about an hour total of sleep that night.

The next day we started out doing a couple more practice runs. Again, I felt ok on the bike, but never really pushed anything as I wanted to save what little energy I had for my race run.

Out of the gate, I pedaled my butt off, and then proceeded to wreck in the very first big rock garden when I actually pushed it. After that, I pretty much coasted to the bottom.

Owell. Not that I was expecting to do very well anyway. I'm pretty much a middle of the pack racer in my class. But it would have been fun to actually finish the race run and see what I could have done.

Hopefully in two weeks at the US Open I can get some sleep the night before my race run.

Pop3 enabled in my gmail

When gmail announced that it was testing a beta version of pop3 to limited customers, I was ecstatic. gmail's spam filters are top notch and 2210media's are not.

The other day I signed into gmail from a browser and I see in the top right what I have been waiting to see for a couple months now.

I click on New Features and low and behold I see this. woohoo!

I immediately configured gmail to import my 2210media accounts and then opened Thunderbird and deleted the 2210media accounts.

Now gmail gets all the spam sent to 2210media.

And my lovely Thunderbird sees no spam and my in-box stays clean.
